Your Amazon Web Services (AWS) account is used for billing and to manage your Zmanda Cloud Backup subscription.

If you need to change this AWS account for any reason, please follow the instructions below.

Symptoms

  • You purchased ZCB with Amazon S3.
  • You need to change the AWS account associated with your ZCB subscription.

What's going on?

To change AWS accounts, you must cancel your ZCB subscription, and then purchase ZCB under the new Amazon account.

It is important to note that your old backups will not be accessible if you follow these directions. Once the old account is canceled, your cloud certificate is revoked and, after a short time, all data associated with that account is deleted.

  1. If you wish to preserve old backups, download the backup archive(s) via the Restore page in ZCB.
    1. You may re-upload the backup archive to your new account, or store it locally until your new backups are live.
      1. To re-upload, create a new backup set and point it to the directory in which you saved your backups.
      2. Run the backup. ZCB will upload the old backup archive just like any other file.
