It is possible to use authenticated proxy servers with ZCB. The username and password must be manually entered into the appropriate configuration file.

It is not possible to use authenticated proxies with ZCB 4.6 or earlier.

Locate the global configuration file

The username and password credentials must be added manually to the global configuration file, named zib.conf.

The zib.conf file will be found in the following locations:

  • For Windows XP and Server 2003 machines:
    • <ZCB installation directory>\zcb\conf\
      • For example, if you installed ZCB to C:\Program Files\Zmanda\Zmanda Cloud Backup\, then the file will be in C:\Program Files\Zmanda\Zmanda Cloud Backup\zcb\conf\
  • For Windows Vista, Server 2008, or newer machines:
    • 32-bit: C:\ProgramData\Zmanda\Zmanda Cloud Backup\zcb\conf\
    • 64-bit: C:\ProgramData\Zmanda\Zmanda Cloud Backup(x64)\zcb\conf\
    • Note that this is the ProgramData directory, not Program Files.

Edit zib.conf

  • Open zib.conf in notepad.
  • Add the following two lines to the end of the file.
    • proxy-user=MyUsername
      • Replace MyUsername with the username for your proxy server.
    • proxy-user-password=MyPassword
      • Replace MyPassword with the password for your proxy server.
  • Save zib.conf

Configure proxy settings

If you have not already configured your proxy hostname and port, you must do so now.

  • Open ZCB.
  • Visit the Preferences > Advanced menu.
  • Input your proxy settings, and save.

You should now be able to connect to your authenticated proxy server!
