When installing a product in the Zmanda Cloud Backup family, you receive an error:
A conflicting Zmanda product is installed
To avoid potential conflicts, the ZCB installer checks for existing installations of itself. If one is detected, the installation fails with the above error.
In some cases, the error will appear even though ZCB has been uninstalled. In these cases, the uninstallation was not fully successful. Some components were leftover, and must be removed. We offer a cleanup tool to help with this.
If an attempt to uninstall ZCB has already been made, and it failed, please proceed to "The ZCB Installation Cleanup Tool" section below.
Otherwise, follow these steps to uninstall ZCB:
Once the previous version has been uninstalled, you may install ZCB.
If uninstallation fails, or if you continue to receive the conflicting Zmanda product error, please use the ZCB Installation Cleanup tool as described below.
Zmanda provides a cleanup tool that will remove traces of previous installations. The tool provides two options: a quick cleanup that will suffice in most situations, and a full cleanup that removes everything.
Run a quick cleanup to remove leftover registry settings and ZCB services. The amandabackup user, backups on disk and/or cloud, and any configuration details will be preserved.
To begin, download the file that matches your situation.
After running the appropriate cleanup tool, try to reinstall ZCB. If it fails, perform a Full cleanup as described below.
Following these steps will remove all traces of ZCB from the machine. All registry settings, services, the amandabackup user, and configuration details will be removed.
Backups on disk will be removed if they are located in one of ZCB's folders or a sub-folder. If you wish to preserve backups on disk, copy them to a different location.
Backups on the cloud will not be removed.
C:\Downloads> ZCBInstallCleanUp.exe -D
If installation of ZCB still fails after following all of the above steps, please contact support. Provide your support representative with ZCBInstallLogFile.txt file, found in the Windows %TEMP% folder.
